Day 3 - New Year Eve

Good news with Abigail the doctors are very pleased with her, her Jaundiced is improving and the infection is under control but she has another 3 days of drugs then another day make sure she is ok coming of the drugs before hopefully coming home. Lorna is going through mixed emotions today (although day 3 suppose be the worse) but by end of today was a little brighter and slightly more mobile. As for Dad he doesn't know yet.. in fact struggling to know what day it is after sitting in hospital 12 hours a day... why are the wards so hot and stuffy? and why are the seats so uncomfy? Anyway signing of now as I need my beauty sleep.. yes I know its not working!

Day 2

Not been the best day today, Lorna phoned me early this morning a bit upset and feeling down, Abigail had some jaundiced and was in an incubator with a uv light but when i got there she looked ok. They took her out mid morning and I changed her, fed her a bottle and after all the running round it was the first time it sunk in that I had a beautiful daughter. We was then told they wasn't happy with her as she was to quiet and considering popping her down to the special baby unit for a check up, then not long after we was told she would be stopping down there and she might also have an infection, it was hard to hand her over.

Anyway we where allowed down about an hour later and she looked ok but was told she has got an infection and later we where told her jaundiced has worsened. We are hoping that some more results tomorrow will be clear and she will only be on anti-biotics for 2 days otherwise its 5 days. Abigail looked more alert tonight when the nurse was feeding her so she looks like she is improving.
Lorna was a little brighter tonight but looks exhausted and very white, had 2 hypos today but hopfully will manage some sleep tonight while Abigail is in the specail care unit.

Abigail update....

What a couple of days, full of emotion and worry but both are doing well. Abigail sugar levels are slowly improving but skin colour looking very red (the picture looks worse than it is) and going slighly yellow so they keeping an eye on her. Lorna very happy but tired today, she managed to get up and about and shower which is amazing after such an operation but soon gets very tired - not suprising after the last couple of days.

There is a picture of Abigail looking very cute in her christmas outfit, and pictures with Grandma Dodson and Nana Richardson.

Abigail Richardson! 8lb 8oz

Just a quick update as it is now gone 1am friday morning and a very long day, Lorna and baby fine, will fill you in with the gory stuff at a later date but after going down to the labour ward miday she ended up with a section at 6pm. Still bit worried about Lorna her colour is far from right but her sugars are ok now, was very low all afternoon and she is exhausted. Probably more photos to follow soon, hope this makes sense as brain stopped working 2 hours ago. And yes Abi is that red.

Update on spud

Been to clinic today and there very happy with things although spud is slightly big for dates, had to go for monitoring and there is certinaly nothing wrong with spuds heartbeat it sounds like a runaway train. Got to go back in on sunday for monitoring and wedenesday but there happy with things at moment. We picked the pram and car seat up from my moms and brought them home today to get use to them before theres a baby inside them. Im just finding it hard to realise that were going to be bringing a baby home soon and more scary of all its going to be stopping for at least the next 18 years. But at the same time i cant wait to meet spud.

Ste finally got himself organised today and done his christmas shopping, but if you are looking for somewhere quiet to go try cheshire oaks we couldnt believe how quiet it was.

Escaped

Finally managed to escape on saturday after much stress and waiting. Still not sure why they had to keep me in as they didnt do anything and sickness went on own. Had a good weekend and celebrated our first wedding anniversary cant believe its been a year since we got married. But a year filled with happy memories. Ste celebrated by being a shepard in the nativity. At 38 years of age and as he remembers never being in a nativity hes managed 2 in one week, a wise man and a shepard. SHAME ABOUT THE LEGS THOUGH. Im back at clinic today and were all prepeared for spuds arrival all though we think it will be next week before they induce me but ste still feels that spuds going to put in an apperance in before christmas. You never know he may arrive in time to open his/hers christmas presents.

Panic Over.

Think it was me just panicing a bit, she has been kept in tonight they are worried about baby getting stressed with Lorna being sick all the time but everthing ok so far, she should come home tomorrow.

Going to see what the dog is doing (probably something he shouldnt) and have a shower, dont know whats on TV probably nothing.

Lorna & Baby update!

Lorna has been sick a lot the last few days, she went in this morning for a checkup and they have kept her in, baby is ok but they worried about Lorna, waiting to see the consultant this afternoon but got a feeling they might decided to deliver the baby before she gets to run down.

Anyway whatever happens I will try to keep this blog updated.... scary thought that I could be a Dad anytime, does that mean you have to grow up and be sensible? Going to finish work early and see her before tea, then can pop home and make her something edible to eat rather than face hospital food.

Mackie Dog!

Until Spud arrives thought would put a picture of our other trouble we have, no not Lorna but the dog! He is upto loads of mischief at the moment, hoping he will settle down when baby comes!

And of course of the finished room before all the babys things went in to it with me and macy admiring my carpet fitting skills

My first Blog!

Thought I would finally give it a go and write a Blog, been looking at friends Blogs recently and they look a good idea to share thoughts and events with friends.

Main reason is to keep a record and friends updated with events over the next few weeks, hopefully 'Spud' (the baby) will make an apperance and I will be able to let people know whats going on.

Anyway thats it for now, been playing with this for the last hour and must do some work - well its lunch time anyway.
